Q: What types of industries do you work for primarily?
A: Services are provided to a vast array of different industries, so there isn’t a primary industry to name. Frequent and repetitive work comes from oil & gas, terminals, utilities, railroad, aviation, trucking, maritime, environmental engineering, chemical & petrochemical, waste management, ports & harbors, pulp & paper, pharmaceutical and manufacturing.
Q: What companies do you work for that would attest to the quality of your services?
A: Given the nature of our work, in particular emergency fuel, oil or chemical response, the confidentiality of our clients is one of our top priorities. We respect and honor those confidentiality conditions at all times. With that said, over the last 30 years we have worked for, or continue to work for, many Fortune 500 companies, mid-size businesses and small businesses alike. In the public sector, clients include the armed forces of the Coast Guard, Air Force, Navy and Army; federal entities such as the Drug Enforcement Administration, Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Transportation; and numerous state agencies like the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, Tennessee Department of Environmental Conservation, and the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources to name a few.
Q: Are emergency response services available 24 hours a day, every day of the year?
A: Yes, we know emergencies are indiscriminate of time and location. We respond to incidents around the clock, every single day of the year, including holidays. We are “always on, always available.”
Q: What safety training and standards do you adhere to for your employees and can you meet our requirements?
A: We adhere to a comprehensive environmental, health and safety program that not only goes above and beyond industry standards, but is also custom-tailored to reflect the conditions and situations our employees may be exposed to on a day to day basis. We are also registered members of top supplier qualification and management portals like ISNetworld, Browz, and PICS that connect environmental services contractors with clients. Q: I currently have an environmental services provider. What are you offering that they can’t?
A: There are a number of things we believe set us apart from our competitors; health and safety is a daily mindset, a culture, and our top priority; experience is gained day after day and year after year by conducting thousands of different projects; our footprint of 29 locations strategically positioned across ten states makes us one of the largest environmental services companies in the nation; equipment is the backbone of our daily operations and we own and operate all types of vacuum trucks, roll-off boxes and trucks, response vehicles, heavy equipment, boats, containers, pumps and emergency response trailers. Couple these factors with quick quoting ability, competitive pricing, and self-performance we would appreciate an opportunity to earn your business. Our mantra is “Client Focused, Safety Oriented, and Quality Driven.”
Q: My company has multiple locations and needs emergency response coverage, do you charge for that?
A: No. We offer two no-cost, non-obligatory agreements to our clients. One is an environmental services agreement that specifically addresses a scope of work to include emergency related services, and another agreement, our master services agreement, or MSA, which provides for a broader scope of work to include both emergency response and non-emergency response services such as remediation, waste or field/industrial services.
Q: I need an ER contractor listed in my SPCC Plan, what do you charge for that?
A: Nothing. All that is required is an environmental response or master services agreement executed between both parties that enables us to establish terms, conditions and pricing in the event we respond under your SPCC plan.
Q: My company generates waste…do you provide waste transportation or disposal services for various waste streams?
A: Yes. We provide both hazardous and non-hazardous waste removal and have working relationships with many disposal facilities across the country to provide the best pricing possible for our clients. Dealing with waste streams is entrenched in virtually every aspect of our business; T&D operations are a day to day function across our entire footprint.
Q: I need a company that can transport hazardous waste both interstate and intrastate. Is SWS approved for that?
A: Yes, for roughly two thirds of the United States. We are currently authorized to transport hazardous waste into, out of, within, or through 31 of the 50 states.
Q: I have several containers of waste. What will it cost to dispose of these?
A: The short answer: it will depend on your location and the types and quantities of materials you need to dispose of. The long answer: if you can provide a detailed inventory of the material requiring disposal, along with product names, chemical ingredients, container sizes, and quantities of containers, a proposal can be quickly generated and presented to you. MSDS sheets for your waste material are also very helpful in classifying and pricing materials for disposal. SWS has dedicated waste services professionals available to assist you with the process and can provide onsite inventory services if needed.
Q: Do you have 10-day hazardous waste transfer capabilities at your locations?
A: Yes. Currently we have 17 locations designated as 10-day hazardous waste transfer facilities. They include Atlanta, GA, Birmingham, AL, Chattanooga, TN, Charlotte, NC, Cincinnati, OH, Decatur, AL, Findlay, OH, Fort Worth, TX, Greensboro, NC, Kilgore, TX, Knoxville, TN, LaPorte, TX, Memphis, TN, Nashville, TN, Paducah, KY, San Antonio, TX, and Savannah, GA.
Q: I have a large-scale, complex remedial project under review. Is SWS capable of performing this type of site remediation?
A: Yes, in addition to our other lines of service, we also offer a wide range of remedial capabilities in site remediation, demolition and construction. Over the last couple of decades, we have completed remediation projects that range in size, scope, duration, complexity, and geography. See a full list of remediation services to learn more.
Q: Does SWS provide turnkey remedial project execution?
A: Yes. While we are not an engineering and consulting firm (E&C), we are a full service environmental remediation company and do provide turnkey services by implementing a predetermined (or required) design or by participating as the construction arm of design-build team. We do self-perform and deliver most any phase of a remedial project. We believe our experience and capabilities make us an integral part of any design-build project including value-added services to E&C firms during the design phase where real-world constructability reviews are presented.
Q: Can you send me a rate sheet?
A: Rate sheets are provided in conjunction with our environmental response or master services agreements. You can use our Get a Contract form submittal and an account manager will contact you promptly.
Q: Does SWS have Professional Geologists on staff?
A: Yes. We have geologists registered in Texas and Louisiana and because of reciprocity and comity agreements between Texas and Alabama, Arkansas, and Mississippi, our Texas Professional Geoscientists are capable of being registered in these states as well, should the need arise. In addition, our Houston and Fort Worth service centers are registered as Geoscience firms with the Texas Board of Professional Geoscientists.
Q: Some states require all geological site assessment and cleanup information be sealed by a Professional Geologist. Does SWS perform this type of service?
A: Yes. Our geologists are experienced in site assessment, remediation, and emergency response requirements for USTs, RCRA facilities, Superfund sites, spills or other scenarios. Our experience also includes interfacing with the various State and Federal environmental agencies to ensure that all assessment and cleanup standards are met. States that require a Professional Geologist seal any such work require that the Professional Geologist be registered in that State. A geologist who’s not registered in that state may still perform the work, but cannot seal it.
